Emotions and thyroid
I believe that emotions have a direct link to thyroid. When we are unable to express our feeling or talk about the strong emotions we are going through, we tend to accumulate a lot of tension in our throat area, and this leads to problems like Hypothryodism or Hyperthyroidism.
One can use naturopathy like massaging the throat, using cold water pack on the neck and wrapping the cold pack with woolen cloth. Accupressure points of neck and spine can help. Pranayams like Ujjai, brahmri and the Singh mudra are very beneficial. Some neck exercises can also help. Relaxation techniques can release the tension.
Every problem in the body mostly is connected with the Gut. We have to take care of bacteria in the gut. So, eating proper diet, which improves the overall system and eating Probiotics is beneficial. When we eat, nutritional food which is anti inflammatory it can improve our auto immunity and hence improve the thyroid as well.
Thryroid is a very sensitive gland. Emotions such as stress, tension, depression, fear effect it. Some food that aggravates this problem can be avoided, like sugar, fried food, soya, broccoli, cabbage, excess of tea and coffee, gluten etc.
Exposure to the sun is very essential for thyrodism. Iron, Vitamin A and B rich food, like vegetables, Spinach, Garlic, Sesame, Eggs, Sea food, Iodine rich salt are good.
Yogic asnas that can be beneficial to activate the Thyroid gland include sarvang asan, bhujang asan, hal asan. Pranic rejuvenation technique and Reiki are also very useful.
According to the Russian doctor Dr. Oleg Torsunov, Thyroid is associated with human emotions, especially with emotion of love. These people correspond with a sense of profound grievance and resentment to the bad action of others. So negative emotions remain frozen in the body and they are collected in the thyroid gland hence the disorder. He says singing will help in it, as nodules in the thyroid gland will simply disappear by singing happy songs and one will feel better. One can feel free from accumulated emotions (negative) by singing.
