Alternatives to milk for children who are lactose intolerant
Milk is an essential part of the kids diet. For kids who are lactose intolerant here are some simple nutritional alternatives.
Sesame milk
There are two types of Sesame white and black. For milk we use the white variety. After washing soak one spoon of Sesame seeds in eight spoons of water and leave it overnight. Grind it next day in the blender and strain the paste in a sieve. For taste one can mix honey or sugar. This milk is very rich in calcium and protein and very good for bones and joints.
Almond milk
Soak five almonds in ten spoons of water in the night. Next morning remove the skin of the almonds. Grind it and make a paste. Strain the paste in a sieve. For taste one can mix honey or sugar. This milk it is rich in calcium, phosphorus, some iron & vitamin B complex.
Coconut Milk
There are two types of Coconut dry and green. For milk we have to use the green.
Take 1/4th coconut, grind it and put water in the paste and strain it. Since this milk is already a bit sweet, it will not really require honey or sugar to be added. This milk is rich in Phosphorus, Calcium, Iron, some amount of vitamin B complex.
